Africa Environmental Sanitation Consult (AfES Consult) is a limited liability firm registered in 2012 to provide sustainable environmental solutions and consulting services. We are a centre mandated to undertake a broad-spectrum of research, training, and problem-solving to develop viable solutions for private and public organizations, institutions, and individuals in the environmental sector and beyond.

AfES Consult provides services in the areas of Research, Consultancy, Training, and Designing and Planning Projects. Our specialty is in Environmental Impact Analysis, Feasibility Studies, Waste Management, Project Management, Occupational Health and Safety Management, Risk Planning, Grant Application, Baseline Surveys, Market Share & Competitor Analysis, Data Collection & Analysis, and General Management. We deliver smart services to our clients.

For a consultancy with professional expertise from highly skilled engineers, scientists, researchers, and associates; We provide Research outputs, Consulting on Policy Development, Advocacy, and Projects as well as Capacity Building endeavours across the various environmental disciplines.

AfES Consult operates and thrives on the following key fundamentals;

  • A conscious data gathering process, and positioning of self as a one-stop shop for health and environmental sanitation data, analysis and dissemination of findings through consulting and advocacy.

  • We bank on strong research, data and analytics to strongly position AfES Consult Limited to influence policy and strategy, establishing strong frameworks for legislation and policy on a number of issues such as Waste Management, Climate Adaptation, Environmental Resource Management and many more.
  • AfES Consult leverages on internationally-trained personnel at its disposal, facilitating and organizing training and capacity programs in both technical and non-technical fields across the environmental sanitation value chain.

Dr. Abena Asomaning Antwi

DR. ABENA ASOMANING ANTWI

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Dr. Abena Antwi is the Managing Director of AfES Consult with 24 years of multi-faceted experience gained from working in both the public and private sectors. She is a prolific writer, public speaker, researcher, human rights advocate, and internationally published author. She is passionate, and resourceful with great interpersonal skills and networking abilities.

Dr. Abena holds a Doctorate in Health Economics from the University of Lille, France; an MBA in Management from the University of Lincoln, UK, and BSc. in Planning (Policy Analysis) from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

DR. YAHAYA YAKUBU

PARTNER

Dr. Yahaya Yakubu has over 20 years of work experience in the environmental sanitation sector with NGOs and the private sector. He is an international journal reviewer and a registered member of the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA). He served as a consultant for the National Health Insurance Scheme and Technical Assistant for Governance and Sustainable Development for Bole and Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira Districts.

Dr. Yakubu holds a Doctorate in Environmental Engineering, MEng. in Environment Science and Engineering as well as Two (2) Post-Graduate Diplomas from China University of Geoscience, a Masters in Governance and Sustainable Development from University of Cape Coast (UCC), and BSc. in Agricultural Science from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

DR. GLENN GYIMAH

PARTNER - PROJECTS & IMPLEMENTATION

Dr. Glenn Gyimah has over 12 years of working experience. Before joining AfES Consult, he was the Head of Research and Quality Assurance for KCARP. He has worked as a Project Manager, Technical Consultant, and Mechanical Technical Consultant on both Liquid and Solid waste treatment plants and Wind Energy. He is a certified member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME); the International Association of Engineers (IAENG), Hong Kong; the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) of the UK; and the Ghana Institute of Engineers (GhIE).

Dr. Gyimah holds a Doctorate in Mechanical Design and Theory from South China University of Technology (2014), Masters in Mechanical Design and Theory from South China University of Technology (2010), an MBA in Human Resource Management from the University of Ghana (2020), and HND in Production and Mechanical Plant Maintenance and Work Services at Accra Technical University.

DR. KOFI SEKYERE BOATENG

PARTNER - POLICY, TRAINING & CONFERENCING

Dr. Sekyere Boateng has 20 years of experience in waste management operations, with 15 of those at the managerial level. He is a member of ISWA, the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) and the International Society for Pharmaco-economics and Outcomes Research (ISOPOR). He is a Fellow of the Regional Water and Environmental Sanitation Centre Kumasi (RWESCK) who has collaborated in a number of peer-reviewed publications for conferences and in journals.

Dr. Sekyere holds a Doctorate in Public Health and Master of Public Health from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Bachelor of Education from University of Cape Coast.

Dr. kodwo - AFES

DR. KODWO MIEZAH

PARTNER - RESEARCH

Dr. Kodwo Miezah has over 20 years of working experience in Research and Waste Management. Dr. Miezah doubles as a Lecturer in the Department of Theoretical and Applied Biology, KNUST. He has several peer-reviewed research articles in waste management with outstanding international journals. He has affiliations with ISWA, Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) and the Society for Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

Dr. Miezah holds a Doctorate in Environmental Science from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, MPhil in Environmental Science from University of Ghana (UG) and BSc in Chemistry from University of Cape Coast.

Mrs. Susana Kouadio - AFES

MRS. SUSANA KOUADIO

Mrs. Susana Opoku Mintah is a chartered financial economist with 5 years of experience in international relations, writing reports, and monitoring and evaluating of projects. She has experience in investment lending, payroll management, budgeting, reporting and analytics.

Suzana holds an MBA in Finance from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, a Ch.E. in Financial Economics from the American Academy of Financial Management, and a BSc. In Economics from the University of Abderrhmane Mira of Bejaia, Algeria, and French and Spanish Language from University of Saad Dahleb of Blida, Algeria.

ING. ISRAEL ACHEAMPONG

CONSULTANT

Ing. Israel Acheampong has over 10 years of working experience in the areas of operational research and project implementation in waste and resource management with respect to material recovery, reuse, recycling as well as energy recovery. Ing. Acheampong is responsible for Engineering Design and Projects at AfES Consult. He is a member of ISWA and a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers.

Ing. Acheampong is a PhD. Candidate in SRH University Heidelberg, Germany, holds an MPhil. and BSc. in Chemical Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, a Certificate in Marketing Communications from Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK.

RICHARD TETTEH BEKAI

CONSULTANT

Mr. Richard Bekai has over 12 years of working experience in the areas of research, data collection, data analysis, reporting, modeling of strategies, and monitoring & evaluation across sectors such as the environment, health, education, policy, and regulation.

Richard Bekai is a PhD. Candidate in Statistics with Dominion University College, holds a Masters in Industrial Mathematics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, a Masters in Statistics from Regent University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Sanitation and Waste Management from KNUST-AISWAM and a BSc. in Mathematics from KNUST.

MICHAEL ASHIAGBOR

SENIOR ASSOCIATE

Mr. Michael Ashiagbor has over 10 years of working experience in waste management and other related research areas. He has expertise in the use of STAN for material flow analysis and SPSS for statistical analysis. He is skilled in data analysis, report writing and graphic designing. He is a member of ISWA.

Mr. Ashiagbor is a Masters Candidate in Engineering Project Management with Coventry University, holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Urban Planning Environmental Sanitation & Waste Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and a Diploma in Statistics & Mathematics from Takoradi Technical University

ISAAC BARNES

CONSULTANT

Mr. Isaac Yaw Barnes earned a Master of Science degree in Water Management from the UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education (now known as IHE-Delft) in the Netherlands. He also possesses a Master of Arts degree in Global Development and Social Justice from St. John’s University (Rome campus) in the United States, as well as a diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from the Ghana Institute of Management and Professional Studies (GIMPA). His first degree was in Integrated Development Studies (with specialization in Environment and Resources management) from the University for Development Studies Ghana.

He has worked with the Environmental Service Providers Association (ESPA) and the Ghana Country Water Partnership (CWP-Ghana) of the Global Water Partnership. His accomplishments include but not limited to being selected as laureate for the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Young Scientist Award, the Water Resources Commission’s Young Water Scientist, and the National representative for the Stockholm International Water Institute Junior Prize. With vast academic and field research expertise, Mr Barnes has over eight years of experience in developing and implementing research and advocacy for water management, environmental sanitation, climate change livelihood adaptation, and social justice in Ghana, Kenya, Spain and Portugal.
